#Cole Said I’m Going To Deliver The Heart Eyes This Episode
“That what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”
THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY — PART 2 (2015) dir. Francis Lawrence
MOCKINGJAY (2010) written by Suzanne Collins
Nothing brings me more joy than seeing Katniss and Peeta’s dynamic referred to as a ‘situationship’. Cause the situation involves:
- one of them holding a torch for the other for eleven years
- the other one paying avid attention to the other for five years
- sharing a bed whenever they possibly can
- casually hugging and holding hands all the time
- planning on giving up their lives for each other
- whatever the fuck the hugging with Peeta’s lips touching her neck was
- all the flirting and married couple dynamics from the train to the quell on
- making out and feeling the urge to have sex on a beach with the country watching
- giving up on life when the other is dead/hates you
- fighting through the brainwashing to hate the one you love because she kissed you
- returning to the other as quickly as possible, whether it be healing from torture or coming back to life from grief
The situation is that they’re unhinged for each other and too stupid to realize they’re married.
I’m having emotions about this scene. How vulnerable Katniss can be with Peeta, and he can be with her, how affectionate they are. It’s a beautiful snapshot into their relationship and one of my favorites.
“you believe me like a god / i’ll destroy you like i am”
— i’m your man, Mitski
My unpopular opinion is that Peeta as a father would never have “issues” breaking the cycle of violence because he simply wouldn’t do anything remotely close to that. He wouldn’t yell. He wouldn’t lift a hand. He wouldn’t be mean. He’d just take a deep breath and look at his children’s eyes, realize how much he loves them and how grateful he is to have this life with Katniss, he’d just discuss things calmly and show them what they can and can’t do.
He would never allow any of the shadows of his abusive childhood to creep on his current life. He just wouldn’t.
favorite scene he just look so beautiful and silly here.
